Looking for Support for Female Founders? Find it at Women 2.0’s PITCH Competition

At Women 2.0’s PITCH Competition “everyone in the room wants you to succeed,” according to one finalist.

By Dana Roseberg (PITCH Coordinator, Women 2.0)

The time has come! Our annual PITCH Competition San Francisco is just around the corner, and we’re already accepting applications. If you’re an early-stage startup with a female founder and less than $1 million in funding, we want to hear from you! Applications are open through January 10, 2014.

PITCH gives you the opportunity to pitch on stage February 13-14th, helping expose your startup to influencers and investors across the country. Past PITCH startup competition finalists have gone on to raise $1.2 million in seed funding, join the ranks of 500 Startups and Y Combinator, and be acquired by the likes of Yahoo!

Past PITCH participant Jenna Fernandes co-founder of CareBooker, talks about the support in the room during Women 2.0’s PITCH competition for female founders and says that her favorite part was meeting other top caliber female leaders.

Why did you decide to apply to PITCH?

I decided to apply to pitch because Women 2.0 has a great brand and I wanted my company, CareBooker, to be recognized by the leading voice in female focused entrepreneurship.

How did pitching (so far) as a finalist impact you or your company?

Adding the Women 2.0 logo to our deck catches the attention of investors and has been a great additional talking point during investor meetings.

What was your favorite part of the experience?

My favorite part of the experience was meeting other top caliber female leaders.  Not only were the other finalists amazing, but all of the attendees were top notch.

What’s one piece of advice you have for future applicants or finalists?
If you’ve created a startup that’s selected by Women 2.0 you’re in an elite group and you should be proud to be on the stage, not nervous. Everyone in the room wants you to succeed, adding to the number of successful female founders.

Are you planning on applying to PITCH?
