FuturePerfect’s Jalak Jobanputra and Zappos’ Jennifer Sidary to Join Us in Vegas!

With just days to go, we’re thrilled to announce two new speakers to round out our conference lineup.

By Jessica Stillman (Editor, Women 2.0)

Conference prep has reached a near fever pitch here at Women 2.0, but even though the clock is winding down to next week’s big event, we still have a few surprises in store for attendees, (and in case you missed it, last week we announced Tony Hsieh and Jane Poynter as new conference speakers!). And today we’d like to reveal a couple of great ones — FuturePerfect’s Jalak Jobanputra and Zappos’ Jennifer Sidary!

Jalak will be joining our social impact panel to discuss ways in which technology is driving social change. With her fascinating CV, Jalak should bring a unique perspective to the conversation. She’s the founding parter of New York’s Future Perfect, an early-stage venture capital fund with a global focus, and previously served as Director of Mobile Investments at Omidyar Network, the “philanthrocapitalist” fund started by eBay co-founder Pierre Omidyar. And that’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to her globe-trotting experience.

More About Jalak in Her Own Words

I’ve started microfinance programs, consulted for charter schools throughout the country, advised large telcos and media companies on mergers and acquisitions, helped launch a web 1.0 startup and spearheaded the formation of a seed fund, and my passion continues to be working with early stage entrepreneurs to help develop their ideas so that their innovations can make a (hopefully) positive impact on the way we all live our lives in the future.

More Good News

As excited as we are to have Jalak join us in Vegas, she’s only half of today’s good news bulletin. In addition, Zappos executive Jennifer Sidary will also be moderating our panel focusing on ecommerce trends. Considering Zappos is one of the world’s biggest ecommerce success stories, who is better better placed to lead a discussion of the future of online retailing than one of the company’s most successful merchandising directors? We’re thrilled to have her.

Fashion maven Jennifer, who heads the Zappos couture portfolio, will join other industry leaders, including Stitchfix founder Katrina Lake, Citrus Lane founder Mauria Finley, and Soraya Darabi, founder of Zady, for an in-depth discussion of developments in ecommerce. These women will tell their personal stories of breaking into the crowded space and will also discuss current challenges they’re facing, as well as industry trends set to shape the near-term future of online retailing.

More About Jennifer

Jennifer Sidary is an American-based fashion industry expert specializing in Couture fashion. Sidary realized her fashion aspirations early on and moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1991 and enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She began her career at the prestigious retailer Halls in Kansas City, MO. In 2007, after 12 successful years with Halls, Sidary decided to marry her merchandising and buying expertise with the world of online retail and made the move to Las Vegas, NV to join Zappos Inc. as a Couture leader for the lifestyle vertical: Zappos Couture.  Since joining the Zappos family, she has nurtured and developed the merchandising team, while continuously adding luxury brands to the Zappos Couture portfolio across all categories and growing the business over 300%.
