Few people are better positioned to make predictions about what the world will look like in 2020 than Megan Smith.

For years she shaped the development of tools you probably use nearly every day, leading Google’s New Business Development team through the acquisition of the technology that become Google Maps and Google Earth. Now she peers slightly further ahead as the VP of Google[x], the company’s advanced products team that looks for “moonshot” solutions to big problems — these are the mad geniuses behind those eye-popping headlines you occasionally see out of Mountain View about things self-driving cars and internet service via balloons launched into the stratosphere.

From this vantage point, Smith is better positioned than most of us to see the future approaching, which is why we’re thrilled to have her give the opening keynote at our upcoming conference in Las Vegas where we’ll be looking ahead to 2020 and the disruptive technologies that will reshape our lives by the time the decade comes to a close.

“In under a decade Steve jobs transformed the mobile, computing and music industry,” Women 2.0 CEO Shaherose Charania commented. “Google is on a trajectory to redefine many industries as well. I’m excited to hear Megan’s insights on what she sees unfolding in the next seven years. ”
