Haven’t Seen She++ Yet? Here’s Your Chance

The short documentary encouraging more women to get into tech careers will be publicly available as of July 22nd.

By Jessica Stillman (Editor, Women 2.0)

When Ayna Agarwal and Ellora Israni, two women studying technology at Stanford, heard that there was a a 79% drop in the number of first-year undergraduate women considering computer science at the university between 2000 and 2009, they didnā€™t just shake their heads and complain to their friends. They decided to do something about it.

They launched a conference and community dedicated to getting more women into computer science courses, which then spawned a short documentary. That film has now been shown to over 100 groups in over a dozen countries and has been translated into five languages, inspiring groups from rural high school students to employees of Americaā€™s biggest tech companies.

But not everyone who may want to see the film has been able to, so its creators are now making it publicly available to everyone. As of July 22nd, a link to the film will be available from the she++ Facebook page.
