12 Women Entrepreneurs To Watch In Kapor Capital's Portfolio

Meet the female founders in the Kapor Capital portfolio.

Not only will Kapor Capital provide 10 scholarships for women of color to attend the upcoming Women 2.0 Conference on February 14, they have a portfolio of 70 companies they have invested in to generate economic value and positive social impact. Of the 70 early-stage companies listed on their website, 12 have female founders!

Meet the 12 up-and-coming women entrepreneurs in the portfolio companies of the Oakland-based investment fund Kapor Capital – these are definitely women to watch!

Asmau Ahmed (CEO & Founder, ColorModules)
Utilizing her experience in chemical engineering, math/statistical data analysis and strategic consulting, Asmau Ahmed founded ColorModules, which made Plum Perfect. ColorModules has $1.3M in Series A funding, led by Golden Seeds. Follow her on Twitter at @Plum_Perfect.

Becky Cruze (COO & Co-Founder, BeCouply)
With her boyfriend Pius Uzamere, Becky Cruze co-founded BeCouply, a mobile app that helps couples have epic social lives. BeCouply received a pre-seed investment by Kapor Capital. Follow her on Twitter at @beckyloveshugs.

Chittu Nagarajan (Co-Founder & President, Modria)
Serial entrepreneur Chittu Nagarajan co-founded Modria, building online dispute resolution systems. Companies use Modria’s software to resolve customer issues. Modria has secured $1.25M in seed funding. Follow her on Twitter at @chittunag.

Jessica Mah (CEO & Co-Founder, InDinero)
A serial entrepreneur since high school, Jessica Mah co-founded InDinero in her UC Berkeley dorm room. InDinero makes software to help small businesses better track and manage their finances. Follow her on Twitter at @JessicaMah.

Kellee James (CEO & Founder, Mercaris)
D.C.-based Kellee James founded Mercaris, providing up-to-date and accurate information on market conditions for organic and non-GMO commodities. The trading platform allows buyers and sellers to meet online and trade the physical commodity. Follow her on Twitter at @Ksemaj.

Mandela Schumacher-Hodge (COO & Co-Founder, Tioki)
Teach for America alumna Mandela Schumacher-Hodge co-founded Tioki, an online professional network exclusively for the education community. Tioki participated in Imagine K12, the “Y Combinator for edutech startups”. Follow her on Twitter at @MandelaSH.

Mauria Finley (CEO & Founder, Citrus Lane)
Seasoned startup veteran (and mom of two) Mauria Finley founded Citrus Lane to help parents discover innovative products, share information, ask questions and find inspiration. Citrus Lane raised $6.6M venture funding to date. Follow her on Twitter at @MauriaFinley.

Nina Zolt (Chief Learning Officer & Co-Founder, ePals)
A designer of digital learning products, Nina Zolt co-founded ePals in 1996. Today, ePals provides safe collaborative technology for schools to connect and learn in a protected, project-based learning network. Follow her company on Twitter at @ePals.

Pooja Nath Sankar (CEO & Founder, Piazza)
A former software developer at Oracle, Kosmix and Facebook, Pooja Nath Sankar founded Piazza to get students help fast. Students post questions anonymously and their classmates and professors collectively answer. Follow her on Twitter at @poojanath.

Rachel Chong (CEO & Founder, Catchafire)
Social entrepreneur Rachel Chong founded Catchafire to match professionally-skilled volunteers with non-profits and social enterprises. NYC-based Catchafire is a for-profit social mission business and a certified B-Corporation. Follow her on Twitter at @catchafireCEO.

Sue Khim (CEO & Co-Founder, Alltuition)
Well-versed in the issue of college debt, Sue Khim co-founded Alltuition to match financial aid requirements to opportunities, providinga free and fast unified application for college financial aid. AllTuition raised Series B funding last year. Follow her on Twitter at @alltuition.

T.J. Zark (Chief Design Officer & Co-Founder, 955 Dreams)
UX designer T.J. Zark co-founded 955 Dreams, a startup that builds award-winning mobile apps like Band of the Day, The History of Jazz, and On the Way to Woodstock. 955 Dreams raised a $3.25M round of seed funding in January 2012. Follow her on Twitter at @tjzzark.
