We are just 8 days away Women 2.0’s first PITCH Conference in New York featuring a full day of successful women entrepreneurs as speakers. Meet Limor Fried, founder at Adafruit Industries.

Limor will be in the MAKER panel with Roominate’s Alice Brooks, GoldieBlox’s Debbie Sterling and Everpurse’s Liz Salcedo. The day holds a full day of talks and inspiration from successful women entrepreneurs of high-growth companies sharing their successes and lessons learned. Full agenda and speaker roster for PITCH NYC here.

Interesting facts about Limor Fried:

  • Launched Adafruit Industries in 2005 – The online store sells DIY kits (ie. phone chargers, learning toys, power monitoring systems, robots) with the goal of teaching everyone from children to adults how to be makers. Today, Adafruit Industries employs over 25 in NYC.
  • Limor “Lady Ada” Fried was on the cover of Wired magazine in 2011 – She was coined “Maker Hero” and graced the cover of the April 2011 issue of Wired Magazine. This is the first time a female engineer has been featured on the cover.
  • Vote for the Adafruit Industries Lego set! Limor said, “If we get 10,000 votes, LEGO will likely make this hackerspace/workshop – a mini version of my factory here in NYC complete with many of the tools and equipment I use. It would be really cool for young kids to be able to imagine being an engineer or maker with a LEGO set.”
