Women-led startups from Mexico and Brazil represent at Disrupt!

By Nora Palladino (Business Development Manager, NXTP Labs)

TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco was attended 2000 people and featured many foreign pavilions (Argentinian, Brazilian, Chilean and Mexican Alleys). This gave the San Francisco event an international and multicultural taste.

Here are some Latin American startups founded by women who were at TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco:

Lorena Reyes Martinez (pictured) at her demo table at Mexican Pavilion at TechCrunch Disrupt. She is a co-founder at Noknoker (Mexico), a loyalty platform for brands. They have been selected by the Wayra accelerator in Mexico last year and are seeking a $350,000 round. Noknoker has a big team of seven founders, three of whom are women. Celeste North and her team are looking for a new round and acceleration for Nuflick (Mexico), an indie movies online platform. They had a soft launch and now are releasing their latest version. They have already 3000 registered users and had 40 titles willing to have 200 next November. Nuflick won the first Startup Weekend in Mexico City and Mexican VC was their first investor.

Rachel Havas and her team at the “carioca” startup are releasing a mobile and webapp for Posto Zero (Brazil) soon. This is a social guide for visiting and living Rio de Janeiro. Posto Zero has received funding from O Globo, major media network of Brazil.

Michelle Dominguez Contreras and her team have developed apps for iOS, Android and Blackberry for Urbanizas (Mexico), a social citizen-oriented report company focused on city improvement. Selected by Wayra accelerator, Urbanizas just launched their beta product and have an agreement with a National Secretary in Mexico.
Aleksa Delsol is part of the team at Yogome (Mexico), a 500 Startups company now based at Mountain View. They are developing a gaming platform and seeking $500k seed funding, of which 25% is committed.
