Bay Area Capital Connections Conference (May 10 In San Francisco)

Get the real story from investors and successful entrepreneurs as they share their paths to success.

The Alliance for Community Development has made a decision to eliminate any cost constraints to attending the Fifth Annual Bay Area Capital Connections Conference.

Women 2.0 members are invited to register for the Bay Area Capital Connections Conference here for FREE. The event, will be held at the Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco from 8:30am to 6pm. The program prepares entrepreneurs to acquire funding and build successful businesses.

Notable keynote presenters are:

  • Julie Corbett (CEO, Ecologic Brands) – Morning Keynote Conversation on Building a Product Company: Ecologic Brands is turning the packing industry upside down with Ecologic’s new bottle in a moderated conversation with Seth Miller, Partner DBL Investors; Moderator, Lyz Ferguson, Managing Director, Drexel Oceania LLC. Julie is the mastermind behind Ecologic’s new bottle – a testament to her insatiable curiosity and ability to “think outside the bottle”. She approaches challenges with fierce optimism
    and tenacity and isn’t afraid to turn the packaging industry upside down. Julie’s passion is bolstered by her 16 years of marketing and investment experience. Prior to founding Ecologic, she was a Vice President at Jurika, Mills & Keifer, where she helped launch the Counterpoint Mutual and Counterpoint Select funds. Julie was also a Partner at Jurika & Voyles, Inc., where she led the firm’s institutional service and marketing efforts that contributed to asset growth of more than $5 billion before it was sold in 1997. Previously, Julie worked for RBC Dominion Securities and the Royal Bank of Canada as well as BBDO Worldwide in Prague, Czech Republic.
  • Lynda Ward Pierce (SVP, HR & Administration, BrightSource Energy) – Lunch Presentation: Strategies for Developing Human Capital – Lynda Ward Pierce is Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Administration for BrightSource Energy. Pierce brings 25 years of extensive human resources experience to her role BrightSource Energy where she oversees all administration, facilities and payroll functions for the organization. Prior to joining BrightSource Energy, Prior senior management positions include Vice President of Human Resources at MobiTV, Inc., Head of Human Resources for SVB Financial Group, and as Vice President of the University of California at Davis. Pierce is also an instructor at San Francisco State University in the Human Resource Management program.

I was thrilled with the number of women who applied to pitch at Bay Area Capital Connections from Women 2.0. Everyone who applied was invited to attend the pitch training session with Geoff Roach, Fellow of the Halo Fund, last Friday. Geoff makes it very clear how every slide and comment in the pitch has to speak to the investor. It was a challenge to select the six entrepreneurs to present on May 10 at the conference.

Since 2006, the Alliance for Community Development has held these Capital Connections conferences to showcase diverse entrepreneurs to the investment community. The Pitch Session is on the afternoon of the conference at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco a very high visibility venue.

Investor judges at this point are Geoff Roach (Fellow, The Angels’ Forum), Shirley Gee (Angel Investor, Keiretsu Forum), and Mark Perutz (Partner, DBL Investors).

Our panel on Current Trends in Investing includes Innovation EndeavorsMonisha Perkash (Founder & CEO, Lumoback) and Cory Ford (Director, Runway Program).
