Join Women 2.0 for an informative night of Demystifying Government and Stimulus Funding for Your Startup. We will be meeting in San Francisco at Citizen Space on Wednesday, September 9th, 2009 starting 6:30pm to discuss alternative methods of funding your business.

Let’s demystify government and stimulus funding. Discussion topics will include:
» What is available to women-owned, minority-owned businesses
» Step-by-step instructions and examples on how to apply to the funds and loans
» SBA and SBIR loans
» Who can use the stimulus money from the government
» State and local incentives for locating companies in low-and-mid income areas

Speaker Bios:

Jill E. Fishbein (Partner, Carr & Ferrell LLP)
Jill is partner and co-chair of the Corporate Practice Group of Carr & Ferrell, focusing on corporate and securities work for both public and private companies, as well as venture capital firms and other financial institutions, with particular emphasis on the representation of growth technology and life science companies. Jill has extensive experience with venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions and domestic and international joint ventures. She also is one of the firm’s attorneys focusing on the developing areas of clean technologies.

Jill has represented numerous companies in the fields of Internet, e-commerce, software, multimedia and data communications. Prior to joining Carr & Ferrell, Jill worked in New York as a commercial banker in the areas of leveraged buyouts and project financings. Additionally, having practiced corporate law at leading Silicon Valley firms and served as General Counsel and Senior Vice President of several publicly traded companies, Jill’s corporate clients benefit from her extensive industry experience.

Cynthia Ringo (Managing Partner, DBL Investors)
Cynthia is a Managing Partner of DBL Investors, which she joined in April of 2008. Cynthia was formerly a Managing Director of VantagePoint Venture Partners from 2002 to 2008 where she was Group Leader of the Communications, Systems, Internet and Media Practice. Cynthia served as a Board Member of the following VantagePoint portfolio companies: Entrisphere, Klipsh, Tymphany, Widevine, LiveScribe, Provina and Meriton.

Prior to VantagePoint Venture Partners, Cynthia served as the CEO of Coppercom, a next-generation network switching company, from 1998 to 2001 and was the Chairman of the Board from 2001 to 2002. While at Coppercom, Cynthia took the company from pre-revenue and five employees to an industry leader in two new communications markets. Coppercom was acquired by Heico Corporation in 2003. Prior to Coppercom, Cynthia was the SVP of Corporate Development and Business Units at networking company Madge Networks from 1993 to 1997. While at Madge Networks, Cynthia had P&L responsibility for 3 business units with $400 million revenue and 500 staff, and identified and negotiated acquisitions worth over $500 million. Cynthia was the VP Marketing and Sales at data warehousing software company Red Brick Systems from 1990 to 1993. From 1980 to 1990 Cynthia held various legal, sales, marketing, business development, and consulting roles.

Cynthia served on the board of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs from 2000 to 2004, and as Chair of the Board for 2001 through 2003. Cynthia received a BS in Legal Systems from Georgia State University and a JD from Emory University School of Law.
