Congrats to Fiestah and co-founder and COO Nurul Yahya for being selected to present live at the Women 2.0 Conference on February 14 in San Francisco! The fifth startup to be announced out of 10 presenting companies, Fiestah is a marketplace for event services working to eliminate the stresses of finding, booking, and managing vendors for your event.
Fiestah COO and co-founder Nurul Yahya graduated from the University of Illinois where she double-majored in Actuarial Science and Economics. While working at Barclays, she started a company making wedding invitations and heard many brides asking for recommendations for DJs, bands and photographers in their budget. There was even a bride that hired a string quartet she found in the subway, and they happened to be a group of Julliard students.
Nurul quickly realized that if vendors had a way to know when event organizers were in their planning stage, both sides would benefit greatly. Organizers would save themselves a lot of stress, and vendors or skilled freelancers like bakers, photographers and makeup artists could now find new work opportunities.
Congratulations to Fiestah and the New York-based team for making it to the PITCH SF 2013 Startup Competition Final Round! The startup competition finalists will pitch live on February 14, 2013 at the Women 2.0 Conference to investors and live audience for prizes.
