Describe the moment when you decided to become an angel:

I decided to become an angel when I heard the staggering statistics on how underrepresented women are in angel investing and in securing funding from angels and VCs. I knew I had to help change that ratio!

Commitment—I want to see a team that is committed to the idea and works well together.

How has your background played a role in your angel investing?
I only started angel investing a few years ago so I have had to learn everything along the way and joining Pipeline Angels was a tremendous help.

One piece of advice to an angel-in-training?
Two pieces of advice:  Find a seasoned investor who can help mentor you through the process and having a good attorney is priceless!

One piece of advice to an entrepreneur looking for capital?
Perfect your pitch BEFORE you start speaking to investors—the what, how and why of your company’s story.

How would you define a for-profit social venture?
Companies that are focused on growth and scalability as a means to fund a social mission.
