Women in the Workplace: Then Vs. Now (Infographic)

We’ve come a long way since 1980… but there’s still a lot further to go before we achieve equality for women in the workplace.

By Amy Noble (Editorial Assistant, Women 2.0)

The good news? The situation for women in the workplace is officially the best it’s ever been, which is cause for celebration.

The bad news? We are still a long way off equality in terms of pay, representation at senior levels, budget allocation and plenty more. After nearly 30 years, you’d think we might have seen more progress.

However, the best news of all is that women today are undaunted by this – in fact, it seems to be inspiring them to step up and make change happen themselves. More millennial women appear to be more concerned with career success than their male counterparts, for example, and this attitudinal shift is reflected in the higher number of women with a four year college degree. Things are moving in the right direction.

Take a look at this infographic from Human Resources MBA and see both how far we’ve come and how much further we need to go.
