Tina Sharkey to be CEO of Sherpa Foundry

Conference speaker and former BabyCenter CEO will be joining Sherpa Foundry as a CEO.

Sherpa Foundry, a new venture and VC fund, has taken on digital media maven, Tina Sharkey as its new CEO. The company was founded by Goldman Sachs managing director Scott Stanford and Menlo Ventures partner Shervin Pishevar. All Things D reports:

“She will be responsible for overall management and operations for Sherpa Foundry, including developing initiatives and leading relationships with its corporate partners/members, which have yet to be announced. The goal, Sharkey said in an interview, is to bridge big and often slow-moving companies with more nimble and perhaps chaotic startup environments, by helping them gain a digital edge with their existing assets.”

Sharkey has seen an assortment of media transformations during her career, including the emergence of HDTV, mobile developments and social media. She co-founded iVillage, a media company for women, (bought out by NBC Universal), was an exec at AOL and most recently served as the CEO at BabyCenter, owned by Johnson and Johnson.

In 2010 she was named by Fast Company as one of the Most Influential Women in Technology. She is also on the Board of Directors for HomeAway and Brit + Co and advises a number of startups and Fortune 500 companies. Learn more about Sharkey here.
