The Latest Awesome Speaker to Join Our Conference Lineup: Tina Sharkey

We’re thrilled to announce the BabyCenter exec and iVillage co-founder will be speaking at our upcoming conference in Las Vegas.

When it comes to being a tech pioneer, few have a better claim to fame than Tina Sharkey who some bill as the woman who invented the term social media. Though there’s plenty of controversy about who was the absolute first to coin the phrase,  Sharkey, the co-founder of early internet sensation iVillage, (which later merged with women.com), and an executive at AOL in its heyday, is among the strongest contenders and certainly has an unimpeachable claim to be one the minds behind the development of this transformative idea. Now, we’re thrilled to announce that Sharkey, who was there for the birth of social media, will share her vision for its development through the close of the decade at our upcoming Las Vegas conference.

Sharkey has been far, far from idol since she participated in the birth of the internet as we know it, building BabyCenter into a global brand and now serving on boards and in a variety of advisory roles. What’s she up to today? Her slash-filled Twitter bio gives you the sense of the diversity of her current projects. We can’t wait to hear what this “Consumer Brand + Biz Architect / BOD @Brit + @HomeAway / Former CEO @BabyCenter / Cultural Anthropologist / Speaker / Angel Investor / Entrepreneur / Executive” has to say! Want a preview of what she might talk about?

Check out the short, insightful interview below:
