Remember When Your Actually Saw Your Community? At Founder Friday You Still Can

Founder Fridays: Real people. Real connections. Real time.

By Jessica Schimm (Assistant Editor, Women 2.0)

With tech now enabling us to connect with almost anyone at anytime, face time with industry peers is getting harder and harder to come by (and we’re not talking about FaceTime on your iPhone). How many connections have you made through LinkedIn invitations instead of looking someone in the eye? Lately, we’re guessing probably more than you’d like.

Founder Fridays are an opportunity for you to make connections through handshakes, not the click of a mouse.

Our longest-running and most popular event, Founder Friday, offers a supportive setting that allows for founders, investors, CEOs, engineers, developers and designers to meet face to face to chat about their experiences and hear words of advice from seasoned individuals in the industry. And with a ratio of men to women that’s more like what you’d find at a friend’s party than most tech events, innovators of both genders will feel right at home.

Founder Friday attracts a diverse crowd and, as a result, is a great place to meet your next hire, next boss, new founding partner or perhaps even your next investor. For those with more dreams than experience, the event are a great way to make some of your fist connections in the tech industry — connections which may last a lifetime or help you launch your business.

But Founder Fridays aren’t just great networking events. They’re a place both to give and get; you may find inspiration or learn something new from an unexpected conversation, but you’re just as likely to have the right experience to offer someone else a crucial bit of advice. Sharing our wisdom this way sparks great new ideas and cements relationships in a way no wall post or 140-character update can.

We believe interesting things happen when people who would not normally connect in other settings have real conversations and build real relationships. In the end, it’s people working together that make innovation happen, ideas alone do not.
