Happy Birthday, Founder Friday! Meet Our New York Team

We would like to take the opportunity to thank every single member of our Founder Friday teams around the world for their efforts and support of creating communities.

Happy Birthday to Founder Friday! It’s been exactly one year since Women 2.0 started building teams for Founder Friday events in cities around the world.

Thank you to the 40,000+ people who have come to our Founder Friday event and supported us.

We decided to bring our Silicon Valley networking event to the international community to help entrepreneurs and technologists get inspired and educated – for the purpose of innovation. By inviting successful female founders of startup companies to come share their story face to face with hundreds of female entrepreneurs, we hope to boost anyone who has a dream to someday create their own successful, profitable and disruptive company. Founder Friday finds role models to put onstage, inspiring the next generation of female founders of technology startups.

We are now in 13 cities, woo hoo! We would like to take the opportunity to thank every single member of our Founder Friday teams around the world for their efforts and support of creating communities.

Introducing Our Great Team In New York City!

We are kicking off a series highlighting our amazing teams, starting in New York City. These are the movers and shakers that have helped us invade New York City with Women 2.0 Founder Friday. Let us introduce to you our rockstar team:

Ellie Cachette has been our New York lead and helped us build our community from the ground up. She announced on her blog recently that after 9 months of Founder Friday New York, we must bid her farewell from New York – and welcome her back to San Francisco!

Her company ConsumerBell provides a fast and organized way for companies to communicate product recall information to save time, reduce costs, and disseminate information broadly.

“Founder Friday is about taking the end of a busy week and dedicating it not only to your community but in investing in yourself. Women 2.0 has helped me realize that I am not alone in wanting to pursue excellence. It’s been an honor and is increasingly and outlet of joy to meet other focused women who are up to innovative ideas. They say that ‘joy attracts more joy’ but sometimes I think ‘”excellence attracts more excellence,” said Ellie.

Jazmin Hupp has helped us for many years with various projects at Women 2.0.

Jazmin is the Director of Marketing for Tekserve, the independent Apple computer store in NYC. Her recent public speaking engagements include preventing payment fraud, low-cost marketing best practices, web design, training, social media, customer surveying, and responding to customer complaints.

Her thoughts on Founder Friday: “It can seem intimidating to walk into a room where you don’t know anyone but I promise you, everyone is friendly. Just approach the first group or someone standing alone and strike up a conversation. It’s great practice for networking events and pitching your idea. Also, remember to collect business cards and follow-up with those connections!”

Grace Nasri, who has joined our team for the last 6 months, has been our point of contact for all outreach of our Founder Friday hosts. She also contributes to the Women 2.0 blog network, sharing her perspectives on the venture capital community and the women in it.

Her thoughts on Founder Friday: “NYC’s Founder Friday events are a great place to network, meet fellow female entrepreneurs and share ideas. Each time I go I’m inspired and energized by everyone I meet; I met two of my closest friends at the first Founder Friday event I attended.”

MaryAlexa Divver has been brought on board by Ellie to help with all our social media outreach and day-of event logistics.

“Founder Friday is an eye opening event that truly shows how many skills we have and how many resources we can provide for our peers and mentors. It’s a place where women can come together and gain success,” said MaryAlexa. She is currently an Operations Assistant at General Assembly.

Welcoming our new Members

Sonia Sahney Nagar will continue growing our Founder Friday community in New York as Founder Friday Lead. Sonia is the founder and CEO of Pickie, a personalized shopping magazine for the iPad. She just graduated from TechStars NYC program.

Her thoughts on Founder Friday: “I’m very excited to be a part of Founder Friday. I’m a huge believer in the value of building networks (in fact, I wrote a blog post for Women 2.0 on this topic). Founder Friday is an amazing place to start or continue building your networks.”

Sumeera Rasul<a/a> is new to our New York Founder Friday team. Currently she is the Director of Product Development for HBO/MAX GO and founded PopLocal, a platform to introduce local boutiques and designers to the greater community. She will be handling all our social media day-of the event.

“In the short time I’ve been attending Founder Friday, I’ve met so many amazing women, made tons of new like-minded friends, and learned so much. It’s something every women entrepreneur or inspiring entrepreneur should be a part of,” said Sumeera.

We would like to thank our Founder Friday NYC team for an amazing 10 months!

Without them, we could not have grown such an amazing community of female entrepreneurs and technologists in New York City. We can’t wait to share each city’s team and highlight them in the weeks to come (United States, Latin America, Spain…)

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at our PITCH NYC Conference & Competition in November!

Thanks to the Kauffman Foundation for being our corporate sponsor and one of our early supporters!
