Startup Weekend is hosting the first ever Startup Weekend Mobile in New York City on January 20-22, 2012.
In just 54 hours, we’ll go from pitches on Friday night to demos of mobile businesses on Sunday afternoon. Our mentors and judges have been carefully selected and include leading mobile experts like Naveen Salvadurai (Founder of Foursquare), Jennifer Byrne (VP of Business Development at Amex) and Theo Skye (Co-Founder of Medialets).
In addition to the fun of working with a team going from concept to minimum viable product, we’ll hear from mobile industry insiders like Veronica Sonsev (Founder of InSparq, Women in Wireless, and New York’s only mobile focused accelerator program Women Innovate Mobile). We are excited to announce that Elmira Bayrasli (Writer for Forbes) will be moderating the judges for Sunday’s Demos.
Startup Weekend is the kind of thing that you need to do once in your life — AT LEAST ONCE. If you’ve already attended, you know what an amazing experience it is. For me, it was life changing. I first attended a Startup Weekend in September 2010, and I’m still in contact with several of my teammates who I met for the first time that weekend.
I was floored to see how much teams were able to accomplish over the weekend. It re-adjusted my notion of what “possible” is.
Startup Weekend is a great way to meet potential co-founders and learn from others who have skill sets that compliment yours. For more information, check out the Startup Weekend Mobile NYC event page. You can use the discount code “Women2” to get a $25 discount.
Make sure you say “Hello” at the event and tell me you found out about Startup Weekend from this post. In the meantime, you can catch up with me on Twitter at @AnnaCurran. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
