Living In The Cloud: Your Office, Your Terms

Editor’s note: This is a sponsored blog post from Microsoft. Thanks to Bing, the first 100 applicants to the Women 2.0 PITCH Startup Competition are FREE!
By Maggie Chan Jones (Director of Cloud Services & Office 365, Microsoft)

The United States Microsoft Office 365 team is honored to host the Women 2.0 Los Angeles networking event at our Microsoft Store in Century City mall on December 2, 2011 from 6pm to 9pm.

The event will address and generate discussions around how Microsoft technologies make remote working easier, a topic that is becoming increasingly critical in today’s workplace, particularly among professional women. The event will support Microsoft’s “Your Office, Your Terms” campaign, designed to educate women on the benefits of remote working and arm them with tools and technology that enable it.

As part of this multi-faceted campaign, Microsoft is aligning with experts and female professional organizations like Women 2.0 to educate and engage with different segments of professional women.

Microsoft is working with Women 2.0 because we:

  • Believe that women entrepreneurs and professionals have specific needs as they juggle family, life and entrepreneurship
  • Would like to better understand and subsequently support women entrepreneurs’ technology needs
  • Want to better stay in touch with what is happening in new technologies

Traditionally, working environments were rigidly organized around time and space, with activities occurring at designated hours at designated locations. Now, advancements in technology are changing workplace boundaries, allowing employees more flexibility in their schedules through remote working.

In addition, remote working technology boosts productivity, enabling businesses to meet the increasing demands of globalization through anytime anywhere access to business solutions. In today’s competitive climate, remote working is more than just an employee perk; it’s a business imperative.

Along with the December 2 event, Microsoft Office 365 is sponsoring a Women 2.0 event in San Francisco on January 6, 2012.

During both events, we will survey Women 2.0 members to gain insight into their thoughts and feelings surrounding remote working, work habits and use of technology.

Take the survey here – one lucky winner will get an XBOX thanks to Microsoft 365!

Results will be published in a whitepaper, which will be available in late January 2012. Please join in the conversation and help us learn and tell me what you think. For more information about “Your Office, Your Terms,” including tips on remote working etiquette and technologies, click here.
