(Video) The Evolution of Pitching Onstage as a Startup CEO

At the BlogHer conference, I ran into the Director of BlogWorld Expo and told her how much time I’ve taken into pitching. “You’re kidding!” she exclaimed.

No. From rewriting logic flow of my pitch, to studying my body language, my phrases, tones, colors I wore… We would film me presenting to team members late in the office and employees got to chose which facts or tidbits they liked the most.

We realized we had an archive of video, and our story had (and still is) becoming more refined.

Here is my evolution in pitching our company at various tech and startup events:

That said, it takes incredible determination — almost like a professional athlete — to be a startup CEO. Massive travel, knowing your audience and saying it in the perfect, most undistracted way that all listeners can think about is how awesome your dream will be and they need to be part of it.
