VC and Entrepreneur Roundtable on March 10

Women 2.0 will host a VC & Entrepreneur Roundtable starting 6:30pm on Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 at the First Round Capital office in San Francisco with Christine Herron (Principal, First Round Capital) and David Hornik (Partner, August Capital).

Investor Bios:

Christine Herron (Principal, First Round Capital)
Interested in: Web 2.0, Mobile, Consumer Hardware (electronics), Enterprise (web, mobile), and areas of growth that do not require specialized info to assess
Christine is a Principal with First Round Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm. Previously, Christine was a director at Omidyar Network, where she developed the Media practice strategy. Prior to Omidyar Network, Christine held operational roles with Mission Research, NetObjects, and Microsoft, and was the founder and CEO of Mercury2. She started as an investor with Geocapital Partners, where she funded early Internet and network infrastructure businesses including Netcom and AXON Networks. Christine was ranked among the Top 20 Women in Technology for 2000 by AltaVista, and has earned degrees from both Stanford University and Columbia University.

David Hornik (Partner, August Capital)
For more than a decade, David has worked with technology startups throughout the software sector. In 2000, David joined August Capital to invest broadly in information technology companies, with a focus on enterprise application and infrastructure software, as well as consumer facing software and services. Prior to joining August Capital, David was an intellectual property and corporate attorney at Venture Law Group and Perkins Coie. In his legal practice, David represented high tech startups in all aspects of their formation, financing, and operations, including the likes of Yahoo!, Evite (Ticketmaster) and Ofoto (Kodak). Before that, David was a litigator in New York City at Cravath, Swaine & Moore. David is currently a lecturer at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, where he teaches intellectual property, and the Harvard Law School, where he teaches entrepreneurship and venture capital. He is the author of VentureBlog, the first venture capital blog, and VentureCast, the first venture capital podcast, and is the founder and executive producer of The Lobby conference, an annual gathering of the thought leaders of the digital media ecosystem. David has an eclectic educational background. He holds an AB in Computer Music from Stanford University, an M.Phil in Criminology from Cambridge University and a JD from Harvard Law School.

Christine Herron is a judge for the Women 2.0 Startup Competition: Pitch 2009.
