About the panelists:
Angelina Moysov (Singer / Songwriter, Persephones Bees)
Born and raised in Southern Russia, Angelina began studying music at an early age, graduating with a degree in Conducting/Piano/Choral. Moving to the US in 1994 to pursue her goals, Columbia Records released “Notes From The Underworld” in 2006, the first recording of her band, Persephone’s Bees. PBees songs have been featured in the motion picture “Bewitched”, television shows “The Sopranos” and “Weeds” and numerous commercials. Her song “Nice Day” is currently ‘the sound’ of the French Yellow Pages Advertising Campaign. Angelina resides in Oakland, CA., and enjoys taking walks.

Lucia Iman (Musician / Artist)
Lucia is a chanteuse/pianist from Sevilla, Spain, the city of duende, or magic. She is now based in Los Angeles where she composes, performs and teaches. She has traveled around the world with her music and has a broad range of credits as a recording artist globally. Music Connection Magazine considers Lucia one of the top 100 unsigned acts of 2007 and calls her “a disarming performer and intriguing live act thanks to her natural talent. Iman shows obvious promise. She is someone to keep an eye on.” Lucia put forth her first European Tour in the spring of 2008, performing at 8 different cities; including London, Paris and Madrid and amassing public acclaim at live and radio shows. She is now creating her upcoming CD through the crowd-funding concept of Sellaband; the artists with the biggest fan following, she has already raised over half of the budget towards her album. She also teaches music through the non-profit organization Soundart and performs locally and nationally.

Pim Betist (Founder and Creative Director, Sellaband.com)
Pim is founder and creative director of SellaBand.com. After finishing his masters degree in Finance, he climbed the corporate ladders of Royal Dutch Shell until he got bored of hearing the same music over and over on the radio. He decided to trade his comfortable life for the realization of his dream and founded SellaBand.com, an online label that enables unsigned artists to record a professional album that is funded by music fans. Since its launch in August 2006, “the record company of the future” has attracted global media attention. More than $2 million has been invested in unsigned talent on SellaBand.com. Pim was invited to present his brainchild on BBC World, CNN and Fox News in the US.<

Celia Hirschman (Commentator, KCRW’s “On the Beat”)
No moss could grow under Celia. She serves as the Managing Director, North America for One Little Indian Records organizing the marketing for artists like Bjork, The Twilight Singers, and Lloyd Cole and others. Simultaneously, Celia runs the marketing consulting company, Downtown Marketing. And if that weren’t enough, she writes, produces and hosts “On the Beat,” a weekly commentary on the music business for tastemaker NPR affiliate KCRW. Celia’s program is featured weekly as a segment during National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered.”

Cecily Mak (Senior Counsel, RealNetworks, Inc. and Rhapsody America)
Cecily is an Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law attorney. She currently holds the position of Senior Counsel, Legal and Business Affairs, at RealNetworks where she supports numerous teams in connection with the digital music service, Rhapsody. Cecily has extensive experience structuring, negotiating and drafting strategic partnership agreements, content license agreements, distribution deals, co-brand agreements and other types of contracts with media companies, record labels, music publishers, search companies, and technology licensors. Cecily is a frequent public speaker and regular contributor to a range of publications on the subjects of digital media, music and copyright law including a recently published by the IAEL and presented at MIDEM entitled “Privatizing Copyright Reform in the Web 2.0 Era.” She teaches Digital Media Law at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and is currently co-authoring a book entitled Music Law in the Digital Age scheduled for publication by the Berklee Press in early 2009.

Jay Durgan (President, Raiden Holdings; Former Head of Bus Dev, Warner Music)
Jay founded Raiden Holdings, San Francisco in 2007 with a view to investing in and working with technology companies that provide solutions to fixed and mobile platforms benefiting media, sport, entertainment and informatics. Durgan serves on the Board of Directors to technology incubator/VC Outhink Media and provides consulting services to one of its subsidiaries, MEDIAmobz, Inc. Jay also actively participates in boards to and/or has minority equity interests in TagText, London, England and Voxonic, New York. Prior to founding Raiden Holdings, Jay headed Warner Music International’s business development efforts throughout the world excluding USA from their London headquarters.

Elise Nordling (Music Director and DJ, Indie Pop Rocks!)
Elise has been the Music Director and DJ for Indie Pop Rocks! on SomaFM since 2001. She also works at IODA (Independent Online Distribution Alliance), where she manages IODA Promonet, a site that provides pre-licensed music for blog and podcast use, as well as Spectre Digital, a digital distribution platform for Spectre Entertainment Group. In addition, she has been working with the Noise Pop Music Festival for many years. She has an extensive and varied background of experience in the music industry, from record shop girl to editor/reviewer at the now-defunct online music magazines Addicted To Noise/SonicNet and Rightround.
